Roberta Ohlrich takes upholstered furniture very seriously. As the Honquest upholstery buyer she applies very discriminating rules to all of her buying decisions. Before you purchase a piece of upholstery Roberta suggests you consider the following:
Construction is one of the most important characteristics for a piece of upholstery because it insures longevity. Be sure you ask about these construction features.
- 8 way hand-tied individual coil base construction.
- Sides, back and arms are fully padded so you do not feel a gap between fabric and frame.
- Cushions are a fundamental element of well made upholstery. Cushions are usually the first to show wear on a piece of upholstery. Purchase the highest quality cushion offered.
- Heavy is good. A heavy piece of upholstery equates to the quality of material used.
Details in tailoring are the most obvious sign of well made upholstery
- Nail trim should be individually applied and should be straight.
- Skirts should lay flat and have a lining and an interlining.
- Welts or cording should be straight.
